Celebrate World Water Day with Veolia Water

Highlighting the importance of water and water management to the general public is the objective of the events the companies of the Veolia Water group have prepared to mark the occasion of World Water Day. On 21 March, in cooperation with local authorities, "water stands" will be opened in buildings of municipal authorities, as well as customer centres in the towns where Veolia Water operates. At these stands, water-management experts will provide comprehensive information pertaining to drinking-water quality, wastewater drainage and purification. The water stands, supplemented by competitions for children and water-based drinks, will also be set up on Saturday 24 March in shopping centres in 13 towns throughout the Czech Republic. A number of water-supply companies of the Veolia Water group will also open up for the public water-treatment plants, water-purification plants, as well as water-supply museums.

In 1993 the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development designated March 22 as World Water Day. The aim is to remind humankind of the importance of water and the necessity of protecting water resources. In 1968 the European Water Charter declared that "There is no life without water. It is a treasure indispensable to all human activity."
